[Portrait Event] The Necessity of Serendipity

  • Shopkeepers Gallery (map)

It is empowering and awe-inspiring to acknowledge the ways we overcome, the ways we "hustle", the ways we prove ourselves. But it can be equally inspiring and humbling to acknowledge the ways in which we lucked out.

When gender, class, and race intersect as women across these planes, where do luck and grit meet? How do we balance the celebration of our achievements with the admission of our privileges in the crafting of our own narrative? How can we advance rights and opportunities, and work toward true equity, for all women through this circumspect self-reflection?

Let's hear it:

BEHOLD.HER is honored to return to Shopkeepers Gallery for another round of portraits, with discussion leader Aerica Banks.

Grab your seat and take a journey with us and new lady friends. I know sometimes it takes a little motivation to get out of the house and break out our comfort zones for a moment, but realize that you're not the only one doing the same thing! There will be many rushing from work or if you're a stay-at-home business like me, sometimes it sucks trying to leave the kitchen counter and get ready for an event. But hey! I'm doing it, we'll be doing it, and I have confidence you can get out the seat pants too ;)

What to Expect:

We'll begin the evening with a small cocktail hour with drinks and small bites provided to you for the night. Then we'll proceed to sit down with our treats and open the discussion with introductions. We'll dive into the topic at hand shortly after. This is not a workshop, how-to, or panel discussion. You will actively play a role in sharing your opinion openly if you'd like. You have the freedom of sitting and listening as well. Half way through the discussion will lead into a one-on-one interview and portrait session with Founder and Photographer, Leah Beilhart. The first image is downloadable and included in your ticket. Any other portraits that you want extra will have to be purchased along with your ticket. You'll then be a part of an ongoing gallery with other women who have attended your session. You'll gain access to a private Facebook group exclusive to those who have participated in the series and gain access to private gatherings, discounted services, and insight on special future events.
